Greetings All;

Looks like Microsoft has released the specifications to the new 2nd generation machines and I came across them at the below web link:

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Microsoft-Surface-2-Price-Specifications-and-Availability-385136.shtml

Do note that anything can change at any time and will probably want to keep tabs at the Microsoft Store online for what actually comes out along with the technical specifications, accessories, and also prices.

I saw on the forum that a lot of requests for docking stations and whether the Pro 2 will have the new Intel i5 4th generation "Haswell" chip.  There will be good news in those areas.

Keep tabs on the Microsoft Store for the actual latest because we are getting close to October 18th release date of 8.1 Final and these machines will probably be released at the same time.

Along with the specifications listed on the web link above, if you guys will pay a visit to the Microsoft Store online and select "Surface".  They have a banner that will lead you to the new Surface 2 models and they also show accessories which will be of interest to probably all of you.

The RT will have the Tegra 4 processor and have a 10 hour battery life (or, supposed to).

The Pro model will have the Intel i5 4th generation "Haswell" processor.

Docking stations, car adapters, a new mouse, a Bluetooth adapter for the keyboards so they can be used detached from the tablet, a lit background keyboard, and a keyboard with a built in battery pack for extended power to name just a few.  They have pictures but no details on all of these at the Microsoft Store online.

Looks like they will be pretty good on both models.

So sad it doesn't comes with GPS. In a survey in my blog, the top most wanted feature on Surface are GPS and 3G/4G dongle compatibility.

It seems that none f them are in the new Surface 2.

Well, MS just doesn't hear its customers.

Well, actually, Microsoft did hear the customers.  However, Microsoft did not own a cell phone maker at the time but they do now.

Keep an eye out on the Surface Mini which may come out early next year.

It appears that Microsoft wants to remain "in house" in the full development of the Surface series and in order to get GPS, you have to have a cellular circuit (no exceptions).  So, the rumor mill has it that a Surface Mini is in development with a 7.5" screen and possibly have a 3G model available.

The purchase of Nokia gave Microsoft the capability of doing that but development of that type of model with 3G/4G capability does not happen overnight, but the development will be fast.

You know Nokia's quality and chances are they will be building the entire tablet.

So, yes, they heard the message; just didn't have an "in house" way of building it but they do now.

Stay tuned and keep an eye out on the computer news.  Chances are, there will be a big bash about it when it does come out.

No word if there will be a version for the regular tablets, just the mini.

DO NOTE: those are just rumors, so anything can happen.  Who knows, they may have a surprise tablet coming out shortly that nobody knows about.

I certainly hope so as I'm fed up with the Surface RT limited capacity to be connected wirelessly on the road. It's embarrassing to see how my work ipad from last year was able to connect to my phone with no effort while my Surface RT connects...,sometimes maybe or not maybe. If I don't see an improvement then I really cannot justify buying the next Surface tablet even though I do now prefer the Surface Pro if I cannot just connect wirelessly via my phone or some 3g/4g dongle.
