Miracast wireless display adapter questions

Hi there.

I am using the Microsoft Miracast wireless display adapter (model 1628) and have a few questions concerning its operation.

  1.  There is a small button on the unit that is not addressed by the users manual. What does that do?
  2.  The unit runs VERY hot while in operation. Is that normal?
  3.  I have a bit a sync problem between the video and audio. Audio is lagging behind about a half second. Any suggestions?
  4.  I believe Microsoft is advertising this unit as an accessory to their Surface brand products, so I hope I have this in the right forum section.

I'm an airline pilot and spend a lot of time in hotel rooms. This very travel friendly unit makes connecting my phone to the bigger screens for watching a movie very super handy, so I'd like it to work well for a long time. Thanks.

it is a reset button that can be used when trouble shooting

my Netgear PTV3000 is very hot while in use, too.

    • what are you streaming and from where?
    • are you running audio out from the TV to a receiver -- what is your setup?

Okay, read the article about the button. Not sure if its any different than just unplugging it and then plugging it back in, but at least I know now.

Solved the heat thing by using the HDMI extension cable. That moved it away from the TV a bit and it is much cooler now.

I am plugged directly into my TV. No external receiver or speakers. Sending it a signal from my android phone. Watching Netflix. Its a road warrior setup. I'm a pilot and it travels very well.

Here are a couple of things I discovered when connecting my Microsoft Miracast Wireless Adapter.

I plug the adapter into HDMI 3 and 4 and didn’t get anything except “No signal”. It worked as advertised when I connected the adapter HDMI 1 and 2 ports.

I tried using a USB extender cable about 4 feet long and the adapter didn’t work with any of the HDMI ports.
