Can't connect to Surface Pro 6 from my desktop computer to use as a wireless display

On the Surface I've set

Connect > Projecting to this PC > Available everywhere

But on my desktop computer, when I browse for devices to connect to (Project > Connect to a wireless display), the Surface does not appear in the list (just the Asus monitor I currently have connected on HDMI to the desktop).

Both computers are running Win 10. Both are on my home wifi. Any ideas?

    Hi Coalsand,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Please try first to turn on Bluetooth on both your Desktop PC and the Surface Pro 6 then try projecting again if the the Surface Pro 6 can now be seen by the Desktop.

If still the issue persist, is there a third party antivirus installed on the Surface pro 6? If yes, kindly try to disable it first then try projecting again.

Is the Surface plugged in with the power supply when you tried to connect? If not, (on the Surface) please go to Windows Settings > System > Project to this PC. Turn off the This PC can be discovered only when it's plugged in option.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your response,

Bluetooth is on for both devices. There are no third-party AV installed on the Surface, and the Surface is plugged in to the power supply at all times. I've also tried toggling the "This PC can be discovered only when it's plugged in" option with no difference.

It's worth noting that I am able to use my desktop as the wireless display for my Surface successfully - just not the other way around!

If you unplug the cable to the Asus monitor and restart, does anything change?

Bluetooth is not used at all for Miracast/Wireless Display. Only WiFi. Why are
    you suggesting this?

If I unplug the cable to my Asus monitor, I won't be able to see anything on my desktop computer as that's my only screen 😕 .
