transferring music from apple ipod to ms surface pro 4

I have tried to transfer music from my ipod to surface pro 4, when plugging it into the laptop/tablet,  it only shows 2 files on the ipod, not the music files.  Tried with bluetooth to no avail.  Looked at settings etc, don't know what to do?

    Use iTunes.
