Hello,

I have a Surfacebook 2 that is about 2 months old, with the discreet GTX1050 as well as the Intel UHD.  I am attempting to cast to a Samsung TV, but when I try to connect from windows, I see the message, "Your PC or Mobile Device doesn't support Miracast, so it cant project wirelessly."  Can anyone confirm that this is the case?

    Hello Benny Skakey,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. Surface Devices should work wirelessly. Can you verify if your Samsung TV is Miracast enabled? If the TV/Monitor you're projecting to doesn’t support Miracast, then you’ll need a Miracast adapter (sometimes also called a dongle) that plugs into an HDMI port on your display device. The adapter lets your PC communicate wirelessly with the display device.

Try all steps below and test:

    • First go to Settings > System > Projecting to this PC > Under "Some Windows and Android devices can project to this PC when you say it's OK" set it to "Available everywhere" > "Ask to project to this PC" set it to "First time only" > "Require PIN for pairing" set it to "First time/Always" > "This PC can be discovered for projection only when it's plugged into a power source" set to "On"
    • Try removing it and adding it again. Go to Settings > Devices > Wireless display and then tap or click Remove Device > Restart Surface
    • Go to system tray in desktop > NotificationIcon > Connect > Wait till it list the device, then select it to connect > Follow the onscreen instructions to project the screen to wireless display.
    • Refer to Project to a wireless display with Miracast and check if it helps.

Open the links below if your Monitor is not a Miracast enabled.

Hope that helps! Please keep us posted.

    Regards,

Unfortunately I can't make those changes because in the "Projecting to this PC" dialog, I get the message, "This device doesn't support receiving Miracast, so you can't project to it wirelessly."

Oddly enough, in my DXDiag, I see, "Miracast: Available, with HDCP"

I know that the device I'm trying to cast to works because I can cast to it from my Lenovo machine.

Thank you for your quick response. Please try to Perform an In-place Upgrade with Windows 10. Ensure you are signed in or have administrator rights to do a repair install. Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting. Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus Program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade.

    1. Select Download tool now, and select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
    2. On theLicense terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
    3. On the What do you want to do? page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
    4. After downloading and installing, the tool will walk you through how to set up Windows 10 on your PC. All Windows 10 editions are available when you select Windows 10,except for Enterprise edition.
    5. When Windows 10 is ready to install, you’ll see a recap of what you’ve chosen, and what will be kept through the upgrade. Select Change what to keep to set whether you would like to Keep personal files and apps, or Keep personal files only, or choose to keep Nothingduring the upgrade.
    6. Save and close any open apps and files you may be running, and when you’re ready, select Install.
    7. It might take some time to install Windows 10, and your PC will restart a few times. Make sure you don’t turn off your PC.

Hope that would fix the issue. Please keep us posted.
