ARM64 processor problems

Question

Microsoft blew it on this one. I, and many others who bought a surface pro X with an ARM processor, bought a piece of junk.

You can no longer plug in a printer and have windows recognize it or manually install printer drivers because this machine will not allow it. This is the first computer that I bought that you can't just plug ang play. As far as I am concerned, this surface is garbage. Who designed this operating system? Microsoft is blaming printer manufacturers for not developing drivers instead of having the computer recognize a new device and automatically download the required drivers. This is the first computer that I have ever had this problem with. I am so upset with microsoft for this.

You are screaming that Microsoft has lost credibility (in your feelings). Your voice is one voice. And sorry to say but you are abusing the customer service people with your buyer's remorse. They are not allowed to say it, but I can. Calm down my friend, and do more research next time. That is how you will grow as a person.

And don't feel too bad. I have had other people give me a similar talk, too. LOL.

Totally agree mondaymoan. I have so many compatibility issues that i didn't realize i'd have to deal with. I can not use, BOX, Dropbox or Adobe Distiller to their proper capacity with apps. Instead forced to use inferior web based versions. I have a very very expensive chrome book that looks nice I guess.

Most printers these days have the ability to connect to WiFI and then theres no need for a special driver.

Again, your response does not offer a solution. Not everyone is rich enough to go out and keep buying printers hoping that you will find one that works on an ARM processor. I tried a HP, Canon and Lexmark printers and none worked and none of the manufactures had drivers for an ARM processor. And FYI, i could not find anything for any printer stating that it would work with an ARM processor.

No offense, but I was responding to Sozz's question about the pixima g2411 specifically.

The official answer from Cannon is that this model is not compatible. In other words, they have not released an updated driver for it (I have no idea if they plan to in the future). Therefore, the only possible solution I know is to try a generic driver, which is what the rest of my post is about.

Who said anything about going out and buying printers until you find one that works? I for sure never suggested such a thing. A few google searches netted me lists of compatible printers for Brother, Cannon, and Epson, which I posted links to. No it won't magically make an incompatible printer work. That said, if you happen to be in the market for a new one, or don't want to or can't swap out the ARM PC, it'll help with choosing a new compatible one.
