I suspect that the Mike has been muted, but even with searching I cannot find how to mute and unmute the microphone. I have tried Right clicking on the microphone icon and can't find how to do it.

My Surface 4 Pro does not seem to give the same screens as you suggest

I click on the Start button, and enter "Troubleshooting"

Under Settings, there is no "Troubleshooting"

    There is

    Troubleshooting history

    Find and Fix Problems

    only

    I choose

    Find and Fix Problems

I get to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>

and the nearest to what I need seems to be "Hardware and Sound"with several choices, I choose "Recording Audio"

Note there is no "Hardware Troubleshooter"

    It ask which device

    Microphone Array or Headset Microphone

    I use Microphone Array

    It says "Couldn't Identify Problem"

    Useless.

I do a system restore to a few days back and the Cortana voice recognition works OK.

So you not have a simple answer to how to set Mute on and off on a Windows 10 Surface 4 PC - that is probably what is wrong..................

    I have paid over £1000 to buy a Microsoft Surface 4 Tablet/PC.

Your comments suggest you have no idea what this PC is.

So please don't bother to answer if you do not have the PC available to check it out.

    Regards

    Barry H WHite

I experienced the same problem when I downloaded and installed the GoToMeeting application while my Surface Pro 4 was connected to a docking station. It would immediately disable the microphone. My solution was to first remove the Surface from the dock. Then, uninstall GoToMeeting and restart the computer. The microphone should now be working. If not - choose a system restore point from before the installation of GoToMeeting. Once the microphone is working, install GoToMeeting while the Surface Pro is out of the dock. The installation should work properly, and the microphone should function normally now. The GoToMeeting application will then work whether or not the Surface Pro is docked.
