How do I set my bluetooth headphones as my default device?

If I go to Sound in Control Panel, it shows playback devices and my Bluetooth headphones are listed there by name. However it says they are disconnected but when I select connect, nothing happens. I think if I were able to connect, then I would be able to select them as a default.

    Hi David,

Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

    a. Press Windows Key +X, select Control Panel.

    b. Select the "Sound" menu.

    c. On the Playback tab, select the Bluetooth headphones, click Configure, and then make sure the configurations are set correctly.

    d. Check if your Bluetooth headphones are already set as the default device.

    e. Select the sound device that you want as the default sound device, and then click Set Default.

    f. Click OK to save your settings and to close the Sound dialog box.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall Bluetooth drivers.

I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Bluetooth****drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if it helps.

Do let us know about the results. We will be happy to assist you further.

I just want an easy way to turn my Bluetooth headphones on and off without setting them as the default audio device which is currently speaker/wired ear phones.

This shouldn't be rocket science, turn them on/enable when I want to use them then off and back to speaker or earphones as my default without having to go through re-enabling the Bluetooth headphones or setting them as the default.

I know how to send sounds to my EHSS stereo bluetooth headphones

    1. switch on my headphones
    2. right click sound icon in system tray
    3. find the item EHSS headphone icon - right click and set connect
    4. a green tick appears alongside and they are shown as default device
    5. The headphones work normally

However at the end of each session I turn the headset off to conserve power I find that the default device changes automatically to Realtek digital out put and i have to repeat the process each time to get back to my wirelesss headphones.

What I would like is for my bluetooth headphones to automatically become the default item whenever they are swichted on (or to have a desktop icon that I could click to achieve this.

I need to keep the Realtek driver becauase I occasinally connect the headphones by 3.5 cable in order to use the digitial equaliser (not avaiable on bluetooth)

I am using a desktop PC running windows 10 and use the generic plug and play driver (reccommended by the headset) Shoud I perhaps a third party driver such as blue soleil instead?
