Wifi stops working when HDMI plugged in via display port adaptor

Every time I try to connect my external monitor I have an issue where after a few seconds my wifi connection stops working.

It still shows the available networks but asks for my wifi password again. When I try to enter it and click connect after a few seconds I just get the same error.

I was getting a similar issue with my Anker USB hub/Ethernet adapter but that was easily resolved by disabling the Ethernet port.

Has anyone had the same issue and managed to resolve it?

Thanks,

Greg

I also have the problem of the WiFi dropping when I connect either, my USB3/Ethernet adaptor, or my Micro Display to HDMI adaptor.  All my updates are up to date and my hardware drivers are also up to date.

Isn't it time for Microsoft to acknowledge there is a problem and to sort it?

It is bloody frustrating having spent a small fortune on what was supposed to be the best laptop!

After further experimentation - no change.

I have 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz channels on my modem.

    The 5.0GHz channel works perfectly.

The 2.4GHz channel stops working when I plug in the external monitor.

Often the password is refused but sometimes the WiFi connection succeeds but there is no IPv4 or IPv6 connectivity hence no Internet

I have exactly the same issue.

Sometimes the connection remains but then the WiFi speed is extremely slow.

    • It started today when I connected my brand new external monitor via the mini-Displayport. The problem stops when I disconnect my external monitor.
    • No error messages or codes - except the same screen as the Original poster showed
    • Yes, regardless of the network
    • I have changed the refresh from from 60Hz to 30Hz - no effect.
    • No other accessories.
    • Plugged into an outlet
    • All updates are installed.

I tried the 'fix connection' Wizard' it reports protocols are missing, the option trying to repair it as 'administrator' does not help.

My monitor is an ASUS 4K Ultra HD PB287Q

    Best regards ... Jef

    I have this issue when:

-im plugged into the dock, with the dock connector plugged into the surface with the wire facing down.

-my dell monitor is plugged into the dock.

see details below. Seems to be a bug thats caused by many things being plugged into the surface, including its own dock!

This is a definitive issue on the SP4. Plug in any USB 3.0 enabled device, such as my Dell 3.0 USB Docking station and the WiFi fails to connect to any WiFi network, including my corporate network. I now HAVE to use my LAN cable on my docking station as opposed to leaving it on the WiFi, which I prefer........much better for heading to meetings as everything stays connected and open including documents and websites.....

I did not have this issue with my SP3, with the exact same external hardware for a year and a half.....

Luckily I only have the SP4 on loan from Microsoft was we were looking at buying 200 of the SP4 for a desktop refresh....NOT ANY MORE!!!!
