Wifi stops working when HDMI plugged in via display port adaptor

Every time I try to connect my external monitor I have an issue where after a few seconds my wifi connection stops working.

It still shows the available networks but asks for my wifi password again. When I try to enter it and click connect after a few seconds I just get the same error.

I was getting a similar issue with my Anker USB hub/Ethernet adapter but that was easily resolved by disabling the Ethernet port.

Has anyone had the same issue and managed to resolve it?

Thanks,

Greg

I didn't want to start a new thread so I'm just gonna publish my findings here.

I have an LG 27UD68 4K monitor connected directly to my Surface Pro 4 via a DisplayPort cable. For some reason wifi is extremely slow in DisplayPort 1.2 mode, but in 1.1 mode it works just fine. This leads me to believe that this is not a hardware or an interference issue. From time to time the wifi will start working completely fine, for up to 30 minutes, and will randomly start working very slowly again (for example in the middle of streaming something, so absolutely no touching the computer).

I have contacted the MS Helpdesk.

They made me uninstall the Marvell AVASTAR Network Adapter (with Device Manager) and restart my Surface WITH the external screen connected. (The Marvell reinstalls itself automatically).

This has partially solved the problem - I can now connect to new Networks but networks which where already known to the system still drop. (or so it seems).

    Best regards ... jef

Thanks for replying, I noticed it yesterday when I first plugged my mini display port to HDMI adaptor into my SP4.

The only error message seems to be the one in the screenshot above. I've not had a chance to dig through the logs yet so I can't confirm if there are any others hidden away at the moment. I've tried it without the typecover attached but it didn't seem to help. I've got all the latest updates installed.

The display plugs into a power outlet and is a HP W2408H - a few years old but until now I'd not had any problems connecting my devices to it. I looked on the HP site but there doesn't seem to be a driver update that'll help.

    http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Value-24-inch-Displays/7274745/model/3551925

I've just checked out using the SP4 with the same cable and adaptor with my Sony Bravia TV and seems to be working well, which is making me think it's some sort of driver or compatibility issue with the monitor.

    Thanks,

    Greg

    Hello Greg

Thanks for reaching out to us.

    When did this start happening?

Are you getting any error messages or codes?

Does this happen regardless of the network you are connected to?

Have you tried different video adapters, cables, displays to the same effect?

Remove all other accessories, see if your experience changes.

Is this display powered by USB, or does it plug into an outlet?

Manually ensure all updates are installed, restart Surface and check again.  Repeat until no updates remain.

    Best regards
