5ghz Wi-fi Connection Problems

Hi all,

I have been having off-and-on issues with connecting my Surface Book (1st gen) to my 5ghz wi-fi bands. I am feet away from my router right now, but the connection strength is very low and when I try to connect to the 5ghz band, it connects but says No Internet. The 2.4ghz band works alright, though sometimes my laptop doesn't see the network when it should (usually after a few minutes it will come up again).

It may have something to do with the fact that my laptop was purchased in France but I live in the US. A few months ago I figured out that changing the channel on the router for the 5ghz band fixed the problems I was having then, but now I'm having similar issues again, and I have no idea what's causing them. Our router is really nice and nobody else in my house has these issues, so I'm 100% sure it's a problem with my laptop. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
