Surface Go 2 LTE and standalone GPS/GLONASS capability

I have recently acquired a Surface Go 2 LTE. Microsoft's 'Surface Go 2 specs and features' claims that this has GPS/GLONASS capability with accuracy up to 3 metres.

I have provided Location access permission to the Windows Maps app and several other mapping applications but they are all unable to pinpoint my actual location, always defaulting to the Windows Default location.

Can you confirm that the Surface Go 2 LTE does indeed have standalone GPS/GLONASS capability, and indicate how to enable it, and any diagnostic tools that would assist in getting to work.

Thank-you

    Hi KJB99,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused you.

Yes, the Surface Go 2 LTE has standalone GPS/GLONASS capability with an accuracy of up to 3 meters. For more details, see Surface Go 2 specs and features - Microsoft Support.

You can set a default location for your device that Windows, apps, and services can use when a more exact location can’t be detected using GPS or other methods.

To change the default location for your device, which Windows, apps, and services can use when a more exact location can't be detected.

    1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security>Location.
    2. Under Default location, select Set default.
    3. The Windows Maps app will open. Follow the instructions to set or change your default location.

The details can be found at Windows location service and privacy - Microsoft Support.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
