No HD quality on streaming services like netflix

Question

Hi all,

Do other surface duo 2 owners face the issue that the device does not support HD streaming (1080p) on streaming services like Netflix?

I also still have the surface duo 1 which DOES support HD streaming.

This issue seems to be related to the widevine certification and levels. Which can be seen in the drm info app.

Surface Duo 1 has the correct level L1

Surface Duo 2 has L3 which prevents HD streaming.

Anyone know the solution to this?

The Surface Duo 2 has a Widevine DRM level of L3, which does prevent the device from HD (1080p) streaming on streaming services like Netflix. In contrast, the Surface Duo 1 has L1 level certification, so it can support HD streaming.

If you need to upgrade its Widevine DRM level, the most effective way to do so is to upgrade the driver and firmware updates. However, this feature is not currently in the update program for the Surface Duo 2.

I think this level upgrade is very necessary for Surface Duo 2 users, which will enhance our experience. So please let's all voice this opinion through the Feedback Hub **** you can send your feedback link here and I will vote for you.

I was happy you also share the opinion that hd streaming SHOULD be available on the surface duo 2.

Let's hope Microsoft does the right thing and fixes the issue.
