    Hi, Jane Maverick!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We are sorry to learn that your external display shows a black screen when you try to project your Surface Pro 7 to your Sony TV wirelessly.

    Press the Windows key

    • P, and then choose a way to project:
    • PC screen only
    • Duplicate
    • Extend
    • Second screen only

Do you see any changes when you select any of the options above?

Let me know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Janette_Z

    Hi, Jane Maverick!

I sincerely apologize for the delayed response. May I know if you already went to visit this page to Fix connections to wireless displays?

Also, kindly force a shutdown and restart your Surface.

    1. Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off (about 10 seconds), then release the power button.
    2. Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Microsoft logo.

If that doesn't work, here's how to make sure your Surface turns off completely:

Press and hold down the power button until your Surface restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

Then reconnect your device to your Sony TV via Wireless Display.

Also make sure to check for Windows Update:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates

Then run the **Surface Diagnostic Toolkit** and make sure to complete the tasks.

We hope this helps you out, we highly encourage you to inform our Community by clicking on Yes or marking my post as an answer. This will help other members who may have the same issue as you. Otherwise, don't hesitate to update us so we can further assist you.

    Kind regards,
