How to configure the Fn key in the Surface Pro 8 Signature Keyboard

Hi,

I have the Keyboard that comes with the Surface Pro 8 and I use very often F2 to rename, F5 to refresh and Home/End/RePag/Av/Pag to navigate text so this keyboard is giving a lot of trouble with the Fn key.

  1. I would like to disable it as a toggle button, and use it only as a shift button to access the volume up/down, brightness up/down functions instead of the default F1-F12 keys. I know it already works both as a toggle and a shift but I toggle it accidentally all of the time so it is not practical at all.
  2. Ideally, I would like it to work like that for the F1-F8 keys and for the Home/End/RePag/Av/Pag keys the other way around: letting those be the default option instead of their corresponding F keys.

Is there a way to achieve that? In every other laptop that I have owned, you can normally find the Fn settings in the BIOS but the Surface Pro is extremely limited in that regard.

    Hi Phemios,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry but we do not have an option to configure the Fn key on the Surface typecover. This would be a good suggestion that we could add to the options for the Surface and for us to improve the product. You may submit a feedback to Microsoft regarding with this concern. Kind regards,

    Marrion
