why is the surface much more expensive in europe?

Can anyone explain to me why the Surface is much more expensive to buy in Germany, where I live, and in the UK than in the USA? Taking exchange rates into account, the basic new Surface 2 model is 100 Euros more expensive here than the USA.

    Yes I wondered why that was like that as well. In pounds sterling $449 is £279 ish but on the Microsoft store for the Uk the surface 2 is priced at £349, roughly. I can understand a greater shipping fee but really that much?

    The prices in the US are excluding taxes where the ones in the UK are inclusive, they still work out more expensive though.

    That's true actually, yeah. So how much does the total come to including taxes in the US?
