Over a month ago I opened a call with Microsoft support after attempting to register my new Surface Pro 4 and failing. It just tells me an unknown error occurred.
They have been looking at it for like 5 weeks and can't figure out why it won't accept the serial number that is on it. The support person finally asked me why I wanted to register it. Which I'd stupid, because you can't get any support or warranty help from them unless its registered.
Now they've stopped responding to my emails completely.

I'm not sure where you are located, but in the United States by law registration is not required to obtain warranty coverage. Proof of purchase should be kept to show eligibility for the warranty period.

I bought it at a Staples retail store here in Winnipeg, Canada. Nothing out of the ordinary. But for some reason the registration system just won't accept the serial number from the back.

It's probably the same here in Canada. But you need to register before you go through warranty support online. Otherwise it's 2-3 hours on the phone every time you contact them.

Got a new Surface Pro 4 i5 from Microsoft. Keyboard is not working and continually getting error that the last USB device connected (of which there are none) failed.
To report an problem, have to register the device. Every time I try to register, I get a message that there was an unexpected error.
This is effectively an endless loop. I cannot register because I get an unexpected error (Edge or IE browser), and therefore I cannot get help.
Any idea what I am doing that no one was able to expect?
