Surface book 3 function keys not working as intended (F1-F7)

I recently got my Surface book 3 and noticed a flaw right away. The function keys (F1-F7) do not work as they are supposed to. The F1 key is supposed to lower the brightness of the screen and the F2 key is supposed to do the opposite. On this laptop though, the F1 key is adjusting the keyboards lightning and the F2 key mutes the sound. The pause/play key (F3) now brings down the volume and the mute button F4 adds volume. You get the picture.

The laptop has a nordic keyboard layout so i'm thinking it might have something to do with that? I have tried completely resetting the computer and reinstalling the keyboard drivers but with no results.

All the functions do work but not by pressing the intended keys.

Thank you in advance for the help :)

    Hi NoelGustafsson,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.

Based on the details you have provided, this functions on the F1 to F7 keyboard for Surface Book 3 are correct. Please check on the picture provided below:

In Surface Book 3, F6 lowers down the screen brightness and the F7 will make the screen brighter. F1 is for the keyboard backlight adjustment.

May we ask for a clear photo of your keyboard?

Hello John, and thank you for rhe reply.

Indeed it seems like most surface book 3 keyboards are different from mine as you can see in the picture.

Are there different drivers available for this type of keyboard or is there possibly another way to fix this?

    Thank you in advande!

Thank you for providing the clear picture of the keyboard, NoelGustafsson. This is an international version for Surface Book 3. All Surface Book 3 has the same drivers.

We suggest you change the right keyboard language lay-out. Go to settings > Click "Time & Language." > n the navigation pane on the left, click "Language." > Scroll down to "Keyboards" and then click "Add a keyboard." > Choose the right keyboard language.

    Hello!

I followed the steps you specified and there has been no change.

    Image

As you can see the keyboard layout is swedish, and changing it to for example english or finnish does not make a difference.

Just to be sure, this is where the steps you specified lead to right?
