Hello Denise Jacques1,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community.
We're sorry to hear about this issue on your device. We understand how concerning this could be.
In this case, it might be an issue with its drivers or other software conflicts. Please try running these methods and see if it helps.
- Force a shutdown and restart your Surface - Microsoft Support
- Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit
- Check for Windows updates. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Download drivers and firmware for Surface - Microsoft Support
If issue persists, then we may need to reimage the device. This option reimages the entire device, including the partition on the hard drive. It is the most complete form of reset. Before you begin, you must have at least an empty 16GB/32GB of USB Flash drive and it must be formatted to FAT32 prior to downloading the Recovery Image.
To proceed, please follow the detailed instructions on Creating and using a USB recovery drive for Surface - Microsoft Support.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
StevenK
