Hi,
I wonder if the same USB port you used to try and charge the phone works on a different device? Unplug the magsafe charger then plug in another usb cable like a Iphone charger and see if it charges. If it doesn't, the usb port is faulty.

Need some help, I have been using my Surface Studio 2 to charge my phone with a MagSafe wireless charger for the past year just fine but since yesterday it will charge for a couple seconds then stop working. I have confirmed it's not the magsafe charger itself as it will charge my phone while connected to a difference device. Also, a regular usb-c charger works fine when connected into the surface. We have tried to restart/update the pc/phone multiple times as well.

Not all the USB A ports at the rear are the same there are 3 low power and one high power. You might need to use the high power ..
Another thing you can do is open Device Manager select and expand Universal Serial bus Controllers right click all entries except for USB Composite Device select Properties then Power Management and turn off Allow this computer to turn of device to save power for each entry. Windows might be turning off the magsafe wireless charger to save power.
Im having the exact same problems. I used to plug in the MagSafe wireless charger in the usb-c of my laptop (running Windows 11 now) with no problem. My iphone would just charge as normal. However, since like a week it wont charge anymore. When I put my phone on the charger it i'll show the charging animation, but then it stops after like 2 seconds.
The charger does work properly when connected to a normal charging brick, so it seems that that is fine. I have tried to turn off the allow turn of device to safe power for the usb-controllers, but that does not have any effect. Since I only have 1 usb-c on my laptop i cannot check. I did connect my phone directly with a usb-c-to-lightning cable, that does charge the phone properly. It just seems that it wont let it charge when using the magsafe wireless charger.
Any other ideas?
unfortunately no more ideas. The only thing I can think of is that the USBC on the SS2 isn't thunderbolt, therefore it cannot carry anywhere near as much power. However OP says it used to work, so unless the intel chipset was gimped by a recent update I am at a loss for a reasonable explaination.
Same thing happened to me after updating the MagSafe firmware to 247.0.0.0. One thing I've noticed is that the charger works I boot the system without logging into Windows or if the PC is powered off(my motherboard has feature to charge devices with the system is off).
I'll give a try to see if the charger works on Linux. To me it seams to be SW related with some Windows service or Apple do something nasty with the latest FW...
