Hello
Thank you for sharing your concerns with the community.
We understand you have some worries about whether your Surface Pro 3's heat will damage your computer or not. Let me address this. First of all, we'd like to ask a few things regarding your usage of the Surface Pro 3 for this issue. Do you have all updates installed? This can help with processing, allowing the system to run cooler. Try installing updates from Desktop rather than the Start screen. Here's how:
- Open Desktop.
- Swipe from the right and select Settings.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Choose Windows Update.
- Select Check for Updates.
Install all updates here and let us know if this helps.
Furthermore, do you use Bluetooth devices? Are you using a case, or do you use the Surface Pro 3 with it lying flat on a table, ? How about if you turn WiFi off, is it still hot?
Depending on what you are doing on your Surface, the system will be more or less taxed, and this can lead to overheating. This can happen even non-"super user" activities like streaming videos. This shouldn't be a concern. However, if your Surface overheats to the point of getting the error message displayed here, please let us know.
Thanks again for your post in the Community. Let us know if you have any other questions, comments, or issues, and please, get back to us with the answers to our questions.
Best regards,
