Battery drain unevenly without plugging anything or running anything in the background

Hey there,

I posted this issue before, however, no response was made so here I am again.

Anyway, my surface book 2 (less than a year) battery is draining crazy unevenly... so to test this out, I left my laptop fully charged (both battery on 100%). And left it for an hr or two with nothing opened.

This is what I got when I'm back : (in use because I'm using the browser I believe)

Any reason why my battery 2 is draining faster than battery 1 when there is nothing is plugged in & running in the background?

This is getting super annoying, especially when I'm working outdoor...

    Hi エディ eddietoo,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We're sorry to know that the second battery of your Surface drains faster than the first battery.

To identify whether it's already a hardware battery issue, I would like you to run the battery report so we can identify it's designed capacity and it's full charge capacity. If there's a big difference between the two, this only mean one thing and that tells us your Surface device is already having a hardware battery issue.

It's second battery is the one you can find in the keyboard. To run the battery report, kind follow the steps below.

Type CMD on the search box next to the Windows icon and run it as administrator.

Type powercfg /batteryreport and hit Enter. It gives you a file path as to where you can access the battery report so kindly screen capture the report and include it in your reply.

If this helps, feel free to mark this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread for further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi エディ eddietoo,

Sorry for the delayed response.  I thank you for sharing the battery report.

It seems like the first battery of the Surface device depreciates in value. Would you mind checking the current OS version of your Surface device in Settings? To check this out, simply go to Settings > System > About and see Windows specification for details. If the OS version shows 1909, this is the most updated version and in this case, what I can highly recommend is to reset the Surface device. I advise you to reset it for us to know if the issue is already a hardware battery problem since the other battery of the Surface device depreciates in value. Below is the link for you to reset the device. Please make sure to save all your files before performing the reset.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4023533/surface-restore-or-reset-surface

If after the reset and the issue persists, then it's best to get this device replaced and I highly recommend to contact support for replacement options.

If this helps, feel free to mark this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if you still need assistance.

    Kind Regards,
