    Hello, PATYPereira!

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and we're sorry to learn about your Surface Go stuck at the 0xc0000098 BCD error. Thanks for letting us know about this and allowing us to help you out.

Please perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

    • Rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD)

Turn off your Surface Go and attempt to boot again. Repeat this process and after two failed boot attempts, the device should automatically enter the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

From the Choose an option menu, select Troubleshoot> Advanced options > Command Prompt

If prompted, enter the BitLocker recovery key then enter the following commands at the prompt:

    CMD> bootrec /scanos

    CMD> bootrec /rebuildbcd

    CMD> bootrec /fixmbr

    CMD> bootrec /fixboot

If your device does not enter WinRE after three failed attempts at booting or the steps above to rebuild BCD will still not let you get to Windows, try using a USB recovery image to boot from and follow the steps below.

Reset the device via USB Recovery:

This option reimages the entire device, including the partition on the hard drive.

It is the most complete form of reset.

You will need to back up your personal data.

You will need to reinstall desktop apps. You will need to run updates after completion.

If the issue occurs after a reset, then the root cause is very likely hardware related.

You will need to download and set up a recovery image on a USB drive. Open USB recovery link to get started. The information on what size and type of drive is provided at the destination page.

We hope this helps you out.

    Kind regards,
