Hi, i'm unable to execute the cut, copy, paste and undo shortcut on my surface go. Specifically, any function with CTRL + Z/X/C/V.  Any idea what when wrong?

    Hi, TSChng!

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your concerns. We are sorry to learn you have issues with your Surface Go. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this and allowing us to help you out.

If I may ask, are you able to execute the CTRL + F to find a text on a page or CTRL + J to open your downloads in a browser? We need to check if the CTRL key is the one having issues or not. How about the Z, X, C, and V keys, they work fine when typing using the Type Cover on your Surface Go, right?

We also need to know if the function to copy, cut, paste, and undo will work when pressing and holding your screen. Does it work fine when executing it via the screen or doing right-click on your Type Cover's touchpad?

In the meantime, please perform the following steps in the same exact order:

    • Detach your Type Cover and make sure to wipe the pins for any debris present.

    After cleaning, re-attach it.

    • Go to Settings > Windows Update> Troubleshoot > look for Keyboard and click it, then run the troubleshooter.
    • Check for Windows Update:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates

Please restart your device to apply the updates.

    1. Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off (about 10 seconds), then release the power button.
    2. Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Microsoft logo.

If that doesn't work, here's how to make sure your Surface turns off completely:

Press and hold down the power button until your Surface restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

If this answers your question, please let our Community know by marking this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there’s anything else that needs to be addressed.

    Kind regards,

    Janette_Z

    Hi Janette_Z,

Able to execute the CTRL + F to find a text on a page and CTRL + J to open my downloads in a browser. The Z, X, C, and V keys work fine when typing using the Type Cover on my Surface Go. The respective functions work fine when executing it via the screen or right-clicking on my Type Cover's touchpad as well. Hence just the CTRL + Z, X, C, V fns are not working on the Type cover.

Have tried the recommended steps but the problem still persist.

    Hi, TSChng!

Thanks for responding and letting us know that you performed the steps. It is really odd that it will not work when using the keys on your Type Cover. Does this happen to specific apps or does it happen on all apps or any part of the screen like the home desktop screen?

Let's run the system file checker to detect corrupted files and repair it. Please get to this page to be guided on Using System File Checker in Windows 10.

SFC stands for system file checker and it will detect corrupted drivers and repair it. This also inspects all of the important Windows files on your computer, including Windows DLL files. If System File Checker finds a problem with any of these protected files, it will replace it.

If the issue persists, please download this in-place upgrade to repair any corrupted drivers on your Surface device OS. Just click "Download Tool Now" run and install, then once "Upgrade This PC" appears, just hit Next. This won't delete the files nor the applications that are installed on the Surface device so nothing to worry about.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Janette_Z
