Hello Rachel,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
If the eraser on the top of your Slim Pen works, but doesn't seem to be able to leave ink stains through the nib, I think there are usually a few possibilities:
- The driver of the Surface is abnormal.
- The tip of the Slim Pen is damaged.
- Your Surface's screen can no longer recognize the Slim pen's nib signal, resulting in no ink stains.
When faced with such issues, I would recommend that my customers try manually downloading and installing drivers and firmware packages for Surface models:
Download drivers and firmware for Surface - Microsoft Support ****
After the download and installation is complete, restart the Surface and see if the problem can be improved. This solution is usually effective if the problem stems from a driver failure. If the problem persists, determine whether the problem is on the Surface.
Usually the easiest way to verify that the Slim Pen is in good condition is to test your pen on another Surface. But most users don't usually have multiple Surface devices available, so if you're near a Microsoft store or outlet, bring your device with you. After explaining your intention to the store staff, I'm sure they'll be happy to help you test your pen and Surface.
However, if you do not have such testing conditions, then I recommend you to contact the Surface technical support team, using the Surface App that comes with the Surface:
Open the Surface App (usually built into your Surface device, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't have one) and follow the procedure below:
- Click "Help and Support" and then click "Get Help".
- Briefly describe your problem in the text box, such as "My Slim Pen can't make ink", and then press Enter.
- Click "Contact Support" at the bottom.
- Select "Technical Support" and click "Confirm".
- You will see "Chat support" or "phone support" options. If you'd like to get Phone Support, select Phone Support, leave your phone number, and the Surface support team will call you back.
I wish you all the best.
