My laptop is showing it’s connected to the internet but won’t load any webpages

I have a surface go 2 laptop that won’t load anything other than my main page chrome browser. Every other device connected to the same router (phones, other laptops etc) has no issues, I’ve run the internet connection troubleshooter and it can’t identify the problem. The laptop shows it’s connected to wifi with full bars. I’ve restarted my computer and reset my network settings but that stopped working. How can I fix this?

    Hi Rachel!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're here to help and let's work on this together.

Most common reason for this issue can be caused by a corrupted or outdated operating system. Please follow suggested troubleshooting steps below:

Before considering any troubleshooting options, please first make sure your device is up to date. To check for updates, just follow these steps:

Start> Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update> then check for updates and install any available updates.

Run Surface Diagnostics Toolkit and complete task here Fix common Surface problems using the Surface app and Surface Diagnostic Toolkit - Microsoft Support.

After running the toolkit, please try to uninstall and reinstall your network driver through device manager. Please follow steps below:

    1. On the search box of your Surface device, search for Device Manager.
    2. Open Device Manager.
    3. Locate and expand Network adapter. Then, right-click your device's network adapter. For example, either Marvell AVASTAR adapter or Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Wireless Network Adapter.
    4. Select Uninstall device. Please note: another pop up will appear, just leave the box empty and click Ok.
    5. On the top view of Device Manager, go to Action and scan for hardware changes that will automatically reinstall your network adapter.
    6. Lastly, force your device to shutdown and restart. Press and hold power button for 20seconds. Wait for the Windows logo to appear, once it does, you can then release the button and wait for your device to restart.

Please let us know how it goes. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Greetings,

    RodelioP.
