"No Battery Detected" error for Surface Pro 2

My Surface Pro 2 is showing a "no battery detected" error right now.  This would make sense if the battery had completely failed.  However, I am undocked from my docking station and not charging the unit and it is still operating just fine.  Reconnecting the unit to the docking station doesn't change the display.

I've done plenty of tinkering (restarting, shutting down and letting it sit) and the only change is that after it was undocked for a while, the battery status has now changed to unknown.  Any suggestions on how to reset or fix the battery status?

    Greetings Brian__M,

Sorry to hear about your Surface Pro 2 battery. Please try the following:

    1. Power off the Surface Pro 2
    2. Hold Volume Up and the Power button for 15 seconds. The Surface logo screen may flash, but continue to hold for 15 seconds.
    3. Release the buttons
    4. Wait 10 seconds
    5. Power on the Surface

Let me know if this helps.

This just happened to me and the fix worked.  This is at least the 4th or 5th problem I have encountered in the few months that I have had my Surface Pro2.  It is disheartening to have had so many assorted little problems with the computer.  I sure hope this fix is sustained and that I don't find myself outside of the warrantee and then need help.
