Disable or Desensitize Type Cover Touchpad Surface while Typing

Is there any setting or utility that will automatically disable or desensitize the Type Cover Touchpad while typing?

I find that when I'm typing quickly my thumb sometimes brushes the touchpad causing the cursor and type insertion point to jump. The only way to avoid this problem is to  manually disable the touch functions on the touchpad but this limits functionality (touch click etc.) when not typing. It would be nice if there was some setting which sensed when typing was in progress and disabled the touchpad surface allowing full functionality to be automatically restored after a short delay. Say if key presses are sensed more frequently than every 0.5s the surface of the touchpad would be disabled and once a typing sequence is finished the touchpad surface could be reactivated after say 0.6s. This would prevent the annoying jumping of the cursor while typing quickly.

I'm using a Surface Pro 4, the latest Type Cover and build 1709

Interesting idea to have a setting in Windows to do this. I'd probably find it useful myself. Suggest you send this in via the Feedback Hub App as a suggestion. As for add on utilities, while I can't vouch for these (as I have not tried them or know anyone who has), perhaps you can create a manual restore point for safety and try one or both of these. I don't know if they even work on Windows 10.. http://touchfreeze.net/ or http://tpp.desofto.com/ - which is why I suggest creating a restore point. The only one I find that claims to work with Windows 10 is reviewed at http://download.cnet.com/Touchpad-Blocker/3000-... and is available for download at http://touchpad-blocker.com/

I hope this is helpful, and if yes, please mark as answer.

    Dear Barb,

Thank you for your speedy and helpful response. As you suggest, I'll give feedback on the 'hub'. I'll also try the remedies you suggest to see if they help and I'll post any further comments here.

    Martin..
