Charger for Surface Go

I heard that we can charge surface Go with a HP charger by the USB C. I tried and it did not work. Is there a minimum output requirement?

My charger output 5V=2A or 4.5V=5A or 5V=4.5A.

Also, could recommend a good external battery for more juice on the move? I tried with using a 10 000mah battery with 4.5V=5A and it did not work also.

    Hi ChewChong Kiat

Thank you so much for posting your concern here in Microsoft community.

You can actually use the USB-C port to charge your Surface Go. However, we recommend using a charger that provides 15 watts or more. If you use a charger that provides less than 12 watts, your battery might not charge. Also, Surface devices will only charge with USB 2.0 or 3.0 compliant chargers. Chargers that provide 5 volts, 1.5 amps, or 7.5 watts may charge, but they’ll be so slow. Low voltage USB A chargers with a USB A to USB-C cable won’t work at all. And this is why we always recommend that you use the Surface Connect charger that came with your Surface for faster charging. And this includes power banks/external batteries.

    Nick

    Thanks Nick,

    I watch the youtube

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lcRU0fzEZI

and it gave the impressions that all USB C will work. Thought my USB C is spoilt.

How about a power bank? What do I look out for?

    You're welcome ChewChong Kiat

Regardless the make/model and the capacity of the power bank, it all depends on the output voltage of the power bank and most power banks only have 5v which is not enough to start your device up.
