Hi Leanne,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
It sounds like you're having trouble getting your Olympus RS31H foot pedal to connect to your Surface Pro 9 using the ODMS transcription software. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps that might help resolve this issue.
- Test Using USB Hub (if applicable)
Since you're using the USB plug in the Surface transformer (which may be limited in terms of power or data transfer):
- Try a USB-C Hub or Adapter: If you have access to a USB-C to USB-A adapter or a USB-C hub, try using it instead. Sometimes directly using the Surface transformer USB port can cause issues with power delivery or data transmission to external devices.
- Check Device Recognition in Windows:
- After you plug in the foot pedal, check if Windows recognizes it:
- Go to Device Manager and see if you can find the foot pedal listed under any category (it might be under Sound, Video and Game Controllers).
- If it’s not listed, try unplugging and plugging it back in.
- Contact Olympus Support
- If the foot pedal still does not connect after trying these steps, it may be a hardware issue or specific compatibility problem. Consider contacting Olympus support for further assistance. They may have additional troubleshooting steps or insights specific to the RS31H model.
I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Your Sincerely
