Hi CD,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.
It sounds like you're facing a common issue with the Slim Pen 2, especially since it's not charging despite being connected to the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard. Here are a few steps you can take to further diagnose the issue and attempt a solution:
- Check Keyboard Connection:
- Clean the connector pins on the keyboard and the port on the Surface Pro to ensure proper contact.
- Ensure the keyboard is charging correctly by connecting it to the Surface Pro while plugged into power. Verify that the Surface Pro and the keyboard are functioning properly.
- Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit: Fix common Surface problems using the Surface app and Surface Diagnostic Toolkit - Microsoft Support This can help in identifying if there are any software or firmware issues with the charging system of the keyboard or the pen.
- Manually update Surface drivers and firmware: Download drivers and firmware for Surface - Microsoft Support
- Test with a Different Pen or Keyboard: If possible, test your Slim Pen 2 on another Surface Pro keyboard to rule out whether it’s a pen or keyboard issue. Alternatively, try charging another Slim Pen 2 on your keyboard to see if it charges. Slim Pen 2 supports wireless charging via the Surface Slim Pen Charger (if you own one).
If these steps didn't resolve the problem, you can request a replacement Surface Pen. Go to Device service and repair, sign in with your Microsoft account, and select a Surface or register a new device.
Your Sincerely
