Camera Not Working

My cameras on my Surface Book have stopped working. When I got to device management, it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE."  This is affecting the Microsoft Camera Front, Microsoft Camera Rear, and Microsoft IR Camera Front.

I have updated the drivers. This did not fix the problem. I uninstalled the cameras and restarted the computer. This did not fix it either.

Went to the UEFI settings. Turned the camera off. Turned it back on again. This did not fix the problem.

I updated the Camera app. That did nothing.

So I did a reset on my computer. This did not fix the problem either!

I'm at a loss of what to do next.

Hardware problem? A bug in a recent update?

Edit: I am getting this error: Device ACPI\INT33BE\0 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

    Hi hhh19,

We also suggest to go to device manager > look for system devices > Can you please confirm if you have "Intel Control Logic"? If you do, right-click on it, click uninstall then check the box that says "Delete the driver software for the device" > Then restart the device.

    Hi hhh19,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry. We appreciate the effort in performing the troubleshooting steps.

Try to make changes on the Registry. Before doing so, it's highly required backing up the registry

    • Press the Windows Logokey + R to open a Run > Type regeditinto the Rundialog and press Enter to launch the Registry Editor. > n the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to the following directory: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows Media Foundation > Click on the registry key titled Platform under Windows Media Foundation sub-key in the left pane to have its contents displayed in the right pane. > Right-click on an empty space in the right pane of the Registry Editor, hover over New and click on DWORD (32-bit) value. > Name the new registry value EnableFrameServerMode. > Double-click on the newly created EnableFrameServerMode registry value to edit it and type 0into its Value data > Click on OK. > Close the Registry Editorand restartthe computer.

If the issue still persists, keep us updated by replying on this thread.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, that did not seem to change anything and my problem persists.

    Thank you for confirming, hhh19.

Please proceed with the USB recovery image. This process will wipe everything out on your device and install a fresh operating system. Please make sure that you have back up your files and data either in an External Hard drive or use your OneDrive app. You’ll need a USB (USB stick) with at least 16GB/32 GB and format it clean (make sure that you have chosen FAT32 as the file system while formatting the USB). You'll need a PC running Windows 10 or Surface Device to download the system files/recovery image on the Microsoft Website.    Note: USB/Flash drives are the only required device for you to perform the follow steps below successfully.• Download the System Files or Recovery Image:1. Go to the Download a recovery image for your Surface
    2. If you’re signed in with your Microsoft account, you will be prompt to choose the device from the list of devices on your Microsoft Account. If you’re not signed in, choose a product on the drop-down menu and provide the Serial Number of the device.
    3. Once the download is finished, go to the file, right-click and choose Extract all then choose the USB/Flash drive.• Perform the USB recovery:1. Shutdown the device by pressing/holding the power button for 10 seconds until it’s off.
    2. Insert the USB recovery drive into the USB port.
    3. Press and hold the volume-down (-) rocker.
    4. Press and release the power button.
    5. When the Surface logo appears, release the volume-down (-) rocker.
    6. Choose your language options and keyboard layout.
    7. Select Troubleshoot.
    8. Select Recover from a Drive. Choose Remove Everything and Fully Clean the Drive. Recovering this PC. If prompted for BitLocker Key, tap Skip this Drive.
    9. Select “Recovery”.
