So I am a student at BSSSC and I use my laptop for everything assignments ect and from a recent update.

The update 15/03/2023.

So the update degraded the perfomance so there is a noticable change in performance running some programs like Adobe Audition, onenote, google and more.

Noticable increase in temperature and the fan is constantly running when I am running 4 googe tabs and onenote.

Please help I really need this fixed soon.

Thanks.

    Hi Lawson Sparks,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community and apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you.

May I know what Windows version, edition and OS build is your Surface Pro 8 running on right now? To check, go to Windows Settings > System > About.

Updates are placed or provided to our devices to keep them secured and also to help them continue running smoothly. I'm not sure what happened to on your device why it caused a drop on the performance but please try first checking for the Surface drivers' health through the Surface app and run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit also as this would make some checks on the device and its system. See: Fix common Surface problems using the Surface app and Surface Diagnostic Toolkit - Microsoft Support. After running the tool, go back to Windows Settings > Windows Updates and check for updates again to make sure that all updates available are installed including Optional updates then observe if the performance of the device improves.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,
    Marrion

While Microsoft has not acknowledged this, the trade press has started reporting If your PC is running slowly, the latest Windows 11 update may be to blame (msn.com) - and are saying the fix is to uninstall that KB5023706 update.

I don't have any info on impact to Surface devices, but please uninstall that update and reply with results. It would be good for others to know that uninstalling this update is a temporary fix.
