I am looking for a new laptop to work from home. I am going to deal with general work like surfing, writing, watching, etc... Along with that, I will play Minecraft in it. I love surface laptops and am interested in Surface Laptop 3. I know that it can deal with all the general tasks but the only question arising in my mind is that will it be able to run Minecraft well. I have checked for gaming laptops under $1000 online here but they haven't listed Surface Laptop 3. So, I am a bit confused whether it will be able to deal with Minecraft or will have to consider other option. Thanks.

Yep. Sure will. I have seen many YouTube reviews stating that it can't run games. But that's not correct.

Minecraft runs very well. Even though the Surface Laptop 3 is not a gaming laptop, it actually runs many games very well.

I run the following games with good frame rates myself:

    • Microsoft Flight Sim X (Non-steam version) at full settings. FPS - 45-50 (Installed using a USB DVD drive)
    • Steam games:

                               1. Train Simulator on high settings

                               2. Ocean Horn: Monsters of Uncharted Seas - Full graphics settings

                               3. Pacman Championship Edition DX+ - Full graphics settings

                               4. Space Marshals

                               5. Many others

    • Windows Store Games:

                               1. HALO: Spartan Assault & Spartan Strike (They look great)

                               2. Tiny troopers (All of them)

                               3. Minecraft

                               4. Many others

When playing games on the Laptop 3, be sure the power profile is set to "Best Performance." Yes, it sucks more battery but if you are going to play games, normally the power cord will be plugged in anyways.

The cooling fan will run continuously. But mine is pretty quite.

    Hope this helps!

    Hello Scott,

Do you have the 13.5 or the 15inch ?? There's different drivers. Not sure which one to go for for gaming.
