Surface Book 2 Loud Whirring/Buzzing Issue

Hello.

I have owned a Surface Book 2 for a while now. Around 1-2 years, I got it in 2017 christmas.

It's always worked pretty fine, I use it for drawing, playing games and such, It's always been a important part of my life and I use it around daily mostly.

Recently, a weird ridiculously loud buzzing, whirring, such noises came from the left side when I opened a game to play yesterday.

I don't know if its 'Coil Whine' or not, i have never experienced my computer making such noises. Normally the fan just softly whirs from the right side.

It seems too loud and abrupt to be coil whine.

When i asked my father(i dont think he knows much about computers)he said it was something to do with the harddrive, or a virus.

But i dont know, my antiviruses have said nothing is wrong(i use Malwarebytes and Avast antivirus free versions, i cant buy one yet)

The whirring is extremely hard to not notice and is annoying.

I dont play games with high graphics/FPS etc normally and they have run fine in the past. The games i have opened were Rain World and Hollow Knight, which i dont know if anyone knows of.

I always play Rain World and it's never really showed any issues except now, where just looking at the menu screen makes my surface whir like crazy.

I'm not sure if its the hard drive, coil whine, a internal problem, a virus, or just a normal thing that occurs but it seems unnormal

I haven't updated it yet because the update hasn't appeared yet but i've restarted it and it still occurs.

I think it only occurs when im playing one of my Steam games, I use other programs such as Discord, Google Chrome, and art programs but these never make the computer make noise.

If you can tell me solutions to this, or something, that'd really help. Thank you

    Hello cloudny4n ,

Thanks for raising this concern, we are happy to assist you.

We would like to know what when this happen occurred?

We need to do some troubleshooting steps:

•So, what we will going to do right now is that, please run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, this will fix the hidden issue of your device.

•After, we need to do the Windows update, Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Check for updates.

•Restart after the doing the Windows update.

Please keep us posted the outcome.
