Surface Pro 8 doesn't charge/slow charge

Hey all-

I have 2 (so far and hopefully only - knock on wood) BRAND NEW Surface Pro 8 (i7,16gb) that had worked great for a few months and then suddenly stopped charging or trickle trickle charging then eventually not charging. This occurs on both the charger and the dock. Best part is these 2 computers are remote users, so I haven't gotten to mess around with them.

Found another thread on here; but rather than sharing the solution, they posted this:

Hello Bill T - Beaufort,

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Definitely not the experience we want you to have. I sent you a private message. Please check your profile’s inbox and feel free to respond.

 Hope to hear from you."

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Hello Jason Anderson_5001,

We appreciate your time and effort in raising your concern here in the Microsoft Community. We understand how alarming it is to have such issue on your device. We'll do our best to help.

Since this is a brand new device and you haven't gotten mess around with them yet, I would suggest to perform these troubleshooting methods first and observe the device, as this might be due to battery driver or some pending updates need to be installed on the device.

    Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, then select it in the list of results.
If it's not already installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions in the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

Remove the battery driver and install updates

    • Plug in your Surface. Select the search box in the taskbar, enter device manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
    • Select the arrow next to the Batteries category. Double-tap or double-click Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, select the Driver tab, and select Uninstall > OK. (Or you can right-click Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall.)
    • Select the computer at the top of all the categories, select the Action menu, and then select Scan for hardware changes.
    • Leave your Surface plugged in.

Update Windows. Ensure all pending updates are installed.

    • Select Check for Windows updates. Or select Start > Settings > Windows Update.

Manually install drivers and firmware for Surface

    • Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by typing winveron the search barnear the Windows logo.
    • Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface**,**choose (your Surface model) then click Download.
Choose the .msi file closest to your current OS Build and click Next.
After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

In addition, also update the firmware of your dock: Update your Surface Dock (microsoft.com)

Let us know how it goes.

    Hope to hear from you.

I have a similar issue. My wife's Surface Pro 8 will not charge. At first it was intermittent, but now the charger light doesn't come on at all. I've tried two different 65W chargers and both have stopped working. Blowing out the charger port with compressed air didn't help. When I plugged in the charger for my Surface Laptop Studio (higher watts) it worked. What's going on?
