When using OneNote on a Microsoft Surface Pro 8 the pinch to zoom functionality is not working as expected. The zoom will scroll right each time you zoom in, rather than zooming where you would expect it to go.

    Hi IT Centre Admin,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the pinch to zoom gesture on your Surface Pro 8. We'll work together to find out the what's causing this issue.

Does the issue only occurs in OneNote? How about in other Microsoft365 apps like Microsoft Word? or in any other apps on the device?

Is it only the pinch to zoom gesture that is not working properly? See: Touch gestures for Windows (microsoft.com) to try or test other touch gestures.

Lastly, I would like to ask if you installed a custom Windows 11 image on the device or it is still the pre-installed image?

For now, kindly try running these steps on your Surface Pro 8 then check if the issue persist:

    1: Force Shutdown

Press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds

    2: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

See: Fix common Surface problems using the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (microsoft.com)

    3: Check for Windows Update

Go to Windows Settings > Update & Security and select Check for updates

Make sure all updates need are installed including Optional updates

    4: Update drivers and firmware

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About

Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Pro

Then click the link next to Surface Pro 8 then click Download on the next page.

Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

5: Update apps through the Microsoft Store

See: Get updates for apps and games in Microsoft Store

6: Run System File Checker Tool

See: Using System File Checker in Windows (microsoft.com)
