Hello,

I am planning to buy a Surface Surface Pro Core M3 7th Gen 4GB/128 GB. This will be my first Surface experience. After much deliberation, I have chosen to buy a Surface over ipad 2018 9.7 128GB due to Surface's Windows/Office support system and keyboard functionality, among others.

However, I have yet not been able to decide b/w Surface Pro Core M3 7th Gen 4GB/128 GB and i5 7th Gen 4GB/128 and i5 8GB/128GB.

The Core M version is available for 590$, i5 4GB/128 for 1000$ and 1100$ for i5 8GB/128 GB.

I am a lawyer by profession. I will mostly be using it for browsing and MS Word, PP and Excel. This won't be my primary laptop since I have a desktop at the office. Daily usage of about 2-3 hours max. Need this for travel and urgent late night assignments at home.

Appreciate your advise ahead of time.

Thanks.

My OPINION is that you should purchase the most recent Surface Pro 6

    8GB i5 128GB is $900.

The ones you are looking at are older and apparently more expensive.

By the description on what you want to use it for, the M3 model should fit the bill.  The M3 is the Mobile version of the phased out Intel Core i3 processor and is a little slower than the i5 but for office work, web browsing, and email, should work quite well.

Battery life should be about 6.5 to 7 hours despite what Microsoft advertises but that is still about a 'days' worth of work.

You didn't mention your location when you posted. You can certainly get by with

    the M3.
