Subsequent to upgrading to Windows 11, I have encountered a complication with the startup procedure of my laptop. Upon activating the power button to initiate the laptop, the Microsoft logo briefly appears before an immediate shutdown occurs. In order to rectify this issue, I am compelled to repetitively press the power button until the laptop successfully initializes.

Based on the description you posted, it seems that you have an issue with Surface laptop 3 wherein the device turns on and it will not boot to Windows just stuck on Surface logo then turn off but now the device is on. This could be caused by a number of factors, including a software issue or a hardware problem.

Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    2. Next, disconnect any external devices connected to your laptop, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Release the button, then press it again to turn on your laptop.

    Hi abmaloufi

Thank you for getting back with us. I’m sorry to hear that the issue persists. Based on your description, it seems like your laptop is taking a long time to boot up. This could be due to a variety of reasons, such as outdated drivers, a failing battery, or a software issue.

Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    • Check if there are any pending updates for your drivers and install them.
    • Disable all programs that start with Windows by accessing the task manager (press together the keys: Ctrl + Shift + Esc), clicking on start, and disabling all programs that start with Windows.
    • Turn on fast boot by accessing the Control Panel, clicking on System and Security, clicking on Power Options, clicking on Choose what the power buttons do in the menu on the left of the screen, clicking Change settings not currently available, enabling the option: Turn on fast startup (Recommended), and clicking Save Changes.
    • Do a disk cleanup by pressing Windows key + R and typing: cleanmgr press Enter, clicking on clean system files and waiting for the files to load, selecting all files and clicking ok to delete them, and restarting the PC.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Christopher.

    Hi abmaloufi,

Thank you for your patience while we worked to resolve your issue. If the problem persists after following the steps mentioned above, it’s possible that the Windows operating system is corrupted. In that case, resetting the Surface device using the recovery image would be the next step to eliminate the possibility of a software-related concern.

To Download USB Recovery Image - http://aka.ms/sri

    REQUIREMENTS:

To ensure compatibility with your Surface device, it is recommended to use a USB flash drive with a minimum storage capacity of 16 GB to 32 GB and format it to FAT32. If the storage capacity exceeds 32 GB, it is not possible to format it to FAT32 as only XFAT and NTFS options are available. Please note that if a USB flash drive is formatted to XFAT or NTFS, it will not be detected on your Surface device. Need to use another Windows PC to download the recovery image.

NOTE: Creating a recovery drive will erase all existing files that are stored on the SSD drive. Make sure to transfer any important data on your USB flash drive to another storage device before you proceed.

Once the download is complete, create a folder on your desktop and rename it to ‘recovery’. Extract the recovery image to the folder you created on your desktop. After the extraction is complete, select all the files in the folder and copy and paste them directly to your USB flash drive. Do not copy the folder directly to the USB. Once the copying is done, remove the USB and connect it to your Surface.

When you are ready, please click this link Creating and using a USB recovery drive for Surface - Microsoft Support to follow the step on how to use the recovery image.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Christopher.
