Hi TS.AS,
Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.
I’m sorry to hear that your Surface Type Cover keyboard is not working properly. Let me help you on this and let us both isolate the problem. Allow me to ask some questions.
- May I know which Surface Pro did you use the surface type cover with?
- When did the issue started?
- Is there a chance for you to test the keyboard to another Surface Pro or test another keyboard on your Surface?
This issue may be caused by dirty or loose connections, outdated drivers or firmware, or software glitches. Kindly try the following steps below to troubleshoot the problem.
Force a restart.
Select Start > Power > Shut down and wait a moment for your Surface to shut down. Then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. If you see the logo screen appear after a few seconds, continue to hold for the full 20 seconds until you see the logo screen again.
Detach and reattach the Type Cover.
- Unplug your Surface and detach the Cover.
- Make sure there's no debris, damage or anything that may inhibit a connection.
- Re-attach the Cover, making sure that all the magnets touch the bottom edge of your Surface.
Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check updates available and install them. Also check optional updates available.
See: Fix common Surface problems using the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (microsoft.com)
Manually update the drivers and firmware for your Surface. (If applicable)
- Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Laptop
- Then click the link next to (depending on which surface you have) then click Download on the next page.
- Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
- After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
You can find more details and instructions on how to do these steps from this support article, Troubleshoot Surface Type Cover or Keyboard - Microsoft Support.
Let me know how it goes.
Kind regards,
Lavenia
