Turn off Microsoft Surface Bluetooth keyboard

I have purchased the Microsoft Surface Bluetooth keyboard, and I pretty like it so far. One thing I'm concerned about, is its ability to turn off, which seems non-existent.

I'm going to be carrying it around in a backpack or suitcase, and any button accidentally pressed during transit, will power it on for a few minutes, which is of course undesirable.

Is there a way to turn it off (perhaps with a hotkey) more definitively while pressing another or the same hotkey will turn it back on? That way I can be more assured about saving power while it's in transit, without having to take about the batteries - something that shouldn't be neccesary with a €110 keyboard. At that pricepoint, we should expect ultimate super amazing premium quality, and this, frankly, includes a way to turn something off.

    Hello Thanatica,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.  You can turn off your Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID by sliding the power switch to off. See the image below.

If that doesn't help try to turn off your bluetooth after use.

    Regards,

    I don't have that switch.

I do have a different switch, on the left side of the foot. It has an embossed BT logo on it. It doesn't appear to do anything though.

So you're saying the process to switch it off, is to unpair it?

I want to keep it paired.

I wanted it switched OFF, but still PAIRED.

So it won't use power while jussling around in my bag and keeping itself powered on by accidental keypresses.
