Two weeks go my sp3 Type cover stopped working, by that I mean that  it would light up upon startup, but then none of the keys or the touch pad would work. I have tried the two button restart multiple times as well as disconnecting and reconnecting the type cover. I went to Settings and Devices and then to Device manager to Uninstall the driver then restart my SP3, but I don't have the Other Devices option at all. I have included a screenshot of my Device Manger.I have my SP3 completely up to date. Nothing has worked and I don't know where to go from here.

    Hello emmaking1997.

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community. We understand that you're having issues with your Surface Cover and we're here to help you on that.

If you've already cleaned the connection between your Surface and the Cover, we advise to also make sure that you were able to Install Surface and Windows updates with the Cover attached.

If done and you're still having issues, you can try to Restore or reset Surface. A reset does the following:

    • Removes all your personal settings
    • Removes all apps that you installed
    • Gives you the option of keeping or removing your personal files.

If you still have a problem with your Surface Cover after trying these solutions, contact our Answer Desk.

    Best Regards,

    Charline

    Hi Charline

Like emmaking1997 I have tried all methods he has done and done Restore or reset Surface as you suggested but SP3 still unable to auto detect the cover nor find the driver for surface type cover in device manager. I have tried my cover with another SP3 and it is working fine.

How do i install the surface type cover driver manually as i can't find anywhere online.

    pls advise.

    Hi,

We'd like to know more information on this. After restoring/ resetting your Surface, have you tried updating the firmware of your Type Cover?

Thanks for letting us know and for your patience on this matter.

    Let's work on this.

    • In Device Manager, have you tried checking for hardware changes?
    • In Device Manager, go to Action > Scan for Hardware Changes
    • Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard 3 times then restarting?

Let us know how it goes.
