Detachable keyboard won't work

Question

My surface pro detachable keyboard will not work. It connects to the tablet and curser works but not the keyboard. When the keyboard is attached the on screen keyboard does not work

Try a two button reset on your Surface Pro 4:

Step 1:    Press and hold the power button on your Surface for 30 seconds and then

release it.

Step 2:    Press and hold the volume-up button and the power button at the same

time for at least 15 seconds and then release both.

The screen may flash the Surface logo, but continue holding the buttons

down for at least 15 seconds.

Step 3:    After you release the buttons, wait 10 seconds.

Step 4:    Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You

should see the Surface logo.

Thanks Barb, I did as you suggested and the screen went to the configuration page. I pressed exit and the tablet went to normal desktop.

The detachable keyboard did link with the tablet but only the curser works you cannot type. When detachable keyboard is on the tablet keyboard does not work ,is this normal.

two things - when you say the tablet keyboard does not work, do you mean you can

bring it up but even when you type on it, it does not work or do you mean it

does not automatically pop up? If it does not pop up, see

as for the typecover, you say the mousepad cursor works but you can't type on

it. check to see if Filter Keys are on*, and if yes, shut them off. if this does

not resolve the problem, can you try someone else's typecover on your Surface to

see if it behaves differently?
