How do you disable screen rotation?

I have a Microsoft Surface running WinRT and would like to lock the screen orientation.

Thanks.

    Hello,

    • In Tablet Mode: Hold down you finger anywhere on the desktop.
    • In Laptop Mode: Right Click anywhere on the desktop
    • Release and a Context Menu will appear.
    • Select Screen Resolution, and Uncheck the Allow the Screen to Rotate check box.

    I hope this helps.

In my case, the screen stopped rotating, and the checkbox you speak of does not show up.  Any idea why?

There are two ways to lock or enable screen rotation.

    1. From the Desktop, right click and select Screen resolution, then check or uncheck screen auto-rotate, click apply and then click OK.
    2. Go to the Settings Charm, select Screen, at the top of the Brightness bar is the symbol for lock or unlock screen rotation. The keyboard must be folded back or disconnected to use this method.

This did help, but it did not work until I restarted the machine.  Not sure what was causing this.
