Starting about 2 days ago, My laptop won't pass 29-30 FPS while in games while it usually runs at 60 FPS. I've been playing on this laptop for about 6 months and never before had this issue. The game in particular is Rocket League being used via Steam. I've spent hours on the forums trying every fix possible to no avail. Please help.

Things I've tried

  1. Making sure no programs are running in the background
  2. Virus scans
  3. individually checking drivers are updated
  4. reinstalled games
  5. Restored computer
  6. Made sure computer was plugged in and on high performance mode
  7. Made sure the game was being started on my NVIDIA processor
  8. Turned off V-sync
  9. Checked monitor refresh rate

etc etc etc...

Please help

    Hi Christos8682,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.  We appreciate the effort in performing the initial troubleshooting steps.

The issue could be on the graphics driver, we suggest the steps below to troubleshoot:

    • Run the System file checker for your Windows 10.

    • Open the task manager > go to Performance Tab > Check if the graphics card is detected and performing

    • Are you using the 13.5" or the 15"?

    • Download the driver's package manually. Check the specific OS build of your Windows Settings > System > About. Download the driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Book 2 and click download on the next page. Please choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next. After the download, run and install the .msi then Restart the Surface Device.

Please let us know about the issue by replying on this thread.

    Kind regards,

    John Neil_J
