Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop Keyboard and Mouse

Hi,

I have purchased the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop Keyboard and Mouse (Model 1678/1679) to compliment my Surface Laptop 3.  I love the keyboard but HATE the mouse.  They pair beautifully and have no issues but the mouse I feel I made a huge mistake.  It's not the size of the mouse nor the flatness of it.  I can live with it but what is driving me up the wall is the wheel.  I have rough hands, the wheel is not soft plastic like every other Microsoft mouse I have had before, it is HARD plastic as well as super NARROW.  As a result every time I try to scroll... my finger aimlessly slides on the wheel.

What can I do?  My fingers slip over the mouse wheel as it is so narrow and the grooves so tiny.

I am so disappointed I spend so much.  It works perfectly with the laptop but is killing my user experience.  I can't return the product to the shop because they are not faulty.  If I buy another mouse will it pair or interrupt with the keyboard?

This is really annoying as I'm on this for 8 hours a day.

    Hello Moti,

Thanks for posting your concern here. We're sorry to learn that you're having an issue with your mouse.

Just to confirm, when did you exactly purchase these accessories? Microsoft actually accepts devices and accessories for return and refund if it's still within the 30 day return window. If you purchased the device through Microsoft Store online, we suggest you to contact them directly. Further assistance, kindly contact **MS Store Online: 1-877-696-7786.**If you're located outside United States, see Global Support. But if you purchased it from a third party retailer, you may have to contact them directly as well.

If this answers your question, please let our Community know by marking this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there’s anything else that needs to be addressed.

    Regards,

    StevenK

I purchased the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop from a 3rd party retailer (Centre Com - In Australia) on the 18-Dec-2020 but only began using it on the 12-Jan-2021 ten days ago when I returned to work. Being the 22nd today I officially own it for one month and 3 days. I did not keep the box and I doubt Centre Com will take it back. Their website clearly states (In the Warranty & Return Policy page) that “if a product is purchased from Centre Com turns out to be faulty, we will strive to resolve the issue ASAP. We strongly recommend that you contact the manufacturer directly if your product is not functioning as desired. So basically I am stuck, it’s not functioning as required, my rough finger tips slip off the wheel (something that no other Microsoft mouse has ever done for me in the last 24 years and I always use Microsoft mice).
