Recently purchased the i5/128GB model and as with every laptop/ tab I own, one of the first things I do is disable turbo boost to boost battery life and reduce throttling. However, I'm having no luck with this due to features such as connected standby (now InstantGo) so any advice would be appreciated :)

Similar to other "appliance type" consumer devices, Surface is already optimized for maximum power while having the Connected S3 power state to allow for wireless updates.

What setting are you trying to tweak?

I'm trying to disable the TurboBoost overclocking to 2.5GHz so the maximum clock speeds would be the regular 1.9GHz for the i5 4300u processor.

    Hey Chris,

I use ThrottleStop to disable Turbo Boost. I have ThrottleStop set to run on bootup minimized so immediately, it's only running at 1.9ghz max. I don't hear much from the fan anymore! Hope that helps=]!
