Surface Slim Pen Unable To Power On

Question

I had to wipe my surface pro 7 in October of last year, days before taking in my surface slim pen was working perfectly fine. Due to internet connection I haven't begun fully using and setting the surface computer up until now, and besides slowly installing windows 11, the computer is working great. Except that I now cannot pair the surface pen anymore.

The LED of the pen will turn on if I place it into it's charging station, however when I try to turn the pen itself on by holding the power, it will not turn on for me to pair it to the computer. Should I wait to see if it will work once windows 11 fully installs and the last few updates, or could this be a different issue?

If the LED light on the pen is turning on when you place it in the charging station, it means that the pen is receiving power. However, if the pen is not turning on when you press and hold the power button, it could be a hardware issue.

But there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

1. You may try running the Surface Diagnostics Toolkit.
2. Download Drivers and Firmware: Download Surface Pro 7 Drivers and Firmware. from Official Microsoft Download Center
3. If any case, you have other Surface try to pair the pen and see if that fix the issue.
4. As you mentioned, you may also try wait until the Windows 11 successfully installs and maybe that will fix the issue.

Hello,

 I have run diagnostics and downloaded the drivers and firmware but the slim pen is still not turning on. The Windows 11 update is still on going, but unfortunately I'm thinking it is a hardware issue with the pen. Thank you for the suggestions!
