Intel released a new set of drivers that are now working with SideFx's Houdini.
Microsoft should include them as part of their updates if possible as now they need to be manually installed.
Thanks!

Hello,
I just switched from a Surface Pro 4 i7 to a Surface Pro 7 i7 and found out a problem with the display drivers rendering the SideFX Houdini software totally unusable.
The openGL view appears fine but everything else seems teared out and misses all the icons and text.
Tested few versions of Houdini but they show the same problem, here's a screenshot of the latest release 18.
is supposed to look like this
I asked some support on the Intel community but I've been redirected to the manufacturer, which is odd since the graphics drivers are made by Intel.
Here's the discussion link: Intel forums
On the Surface Pro 4 I never had such a problem, which really seems related to display drivers.
Any chance to get some support?
Thanks in advance

Hi Miche_79,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community. We are sorry to hear about the issue you experienced on your Surface Pro 7.
On the Intel forums you included, it was stated there that the poster tried to update the firmware and drivers of the device but it was not able to fix the issue, may we ask if you were able to do it as well? Just in case here, here are the steps to update the drivers and firmware of the device:
Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.
Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Pro 7 then click Download on the next page.
Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
After doing that and still the issue persist, please run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit on the device.
Please post a response if still issue persist. We'll raise this concern as well and we'll get back on you with this soon.
Kind Regards,
Marrion Y.
Hi,
I was the poster on the Intel forum.
Yes i i tried to update the drivers from microsoft and also tried with newer intel drivers with a manual install of the Iris Plus card ones, still without success.
So I believe Intel needs to work out a fixed set of drivers but apparently the request needs to come from the computer manufacturer, hence Microsoft.
Still the fact the software runs on an older Surface Pro 4 means the new hardware is fully capable as well, assuming the drivers are working properly.
Other similar softwares runs fine on the same tablet
