Bluetooth Settings for Surface Dial (Wheel) crashes settings app every time

I have two machines both running Windows 11: Desktop and a Surface Pro X.

I've tried connecting the Dial to both machines. The device connects and works as expected, but going into the Settings -> Bluetooth -> Wheel area immediately crashes settings every time on both devices.

It doesn't flash any settings before crashing; it just shows an empty page like it's transitioning, then crashes like as-if it was loading the settings from the Dial but couldn't understand them or something.

I need to access the settings and it's a frustratingly consistent failure.

How can I resolve this?

***Moved from: Windows / Windows 11 / Settings***

Passing forward that Sonia Cuff came with a functional workaround on ‎Dec 21 2021 at this Microsoft Tech Community thread:

    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-11/crash-when-trying-to-quot-add-an-app-quot-in-quot-wheel-quot/m-p/2856345

Sonia Cuff provided the following steps:

    1. Open Settings

    > 2. Network & Internet

    >> 3. Advanced network settings (bottom)

    >>> 4. Data Usage

    1. While on the Data Usage page, type "wheel" in the top left search bar ("Find a setting...")
    2. Choose "Wheel Settings"
    3. Wheel settings should now be stable for this session.

NOTE: If you exit the settings app, you need to repeat these steps, even if you haven't rebooted.

Sonia hopes this helps until a fix is rolled out -- she is a genius.

UPDATE: After 2022-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5010795):

After selection of app in "Add an App" page, the settings will crash; however, ...

GOOD NEWS: The app will now appear in the "App Tools" list at the bottom of the Wheel settings page and can be customized.

Same situation. Everything worked fine on Windows 10, with the upgrade to 11 cannot access the settings anymore.

So the dial works in the standard settings = completely useless to me, as I hate the activated feedback and do not need the standard functions like volume control.

This fix seems to no longer be working. I can get in to add the app, but when I select the app it force closes again.
